Corporate logos change with the times. Sometimes the results are good, sometimes they suck ass. Here’s a neat article that shows some popular logos and how they’re evolved. > Click HERE
I live a few steps from the Silicon Valley Cisco Systems campus and I’ve noticed that they are replacing signage on all of their buildings. This is no small task. Their metal-framed lawn signs look really heavy (think: backhoe, crane, and 10 guys, plus some dorky lady in a hardhat & suit pretending to help), plus they are dug deep into the ground. Also, Cisco has like 20 buildings scattered across a couple of miles.
The problem I have is that their new logo is HORRIBLE! It’s a childish version of their old standard strong logo, which is based upon the Golden Gate Bridge.
new lame logo:
Looks to me like an excuse to spend money. Maybe some executive’s kid just finished art school and he demanded they give her a job. That happened to me once. The “artist” did a fingerpainting of a C and gave it to me as the new corporate logo. No, I am not kidding.
